About Elon

We at The Counseling and Wellness Center of Wyomissing are relational healers. We believe that secure attachments are the foundation to healthy functioning, and know that when our relationships are suffering, our sense of self and emotional safety is jeopardized. As such, Elon received training in the following connection-promoting therapies to heal attachment wounds.

To help families, Elon is trained in Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT), an empirically supported model that attends to families who are trapped in a cycle of unhappiness. Families who successfully complete treatment often transition from intense, frequent arguing and/or avoidance of either one another or difficult dialogue to interacting in a healthy, honest, and productive manner. Families also report that they not only feel more connected, but also better able to notice and tend to the distress of each other, instead of becoming activated by, or avoidant of, the suffering of their kin. Lasting change can be experienced in as little as eight months of treatment.

Elon has extensive experience counseling families who are either on the brink of divorce or who are currently separated.

To help couples restore their connection, Elon has specialized in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a treatment model that is proven to mend, heal, and enhance relationships. While other therapeutic modalities for couples have a 35% success rate, EFT has achieved outstanding results, earning this model the “gold standard” award for couples therapy. As such, approximately 86% of couples, worldwide, report that they are happier in their relationship, and a two-year follow-up study demonstrates lasting results (data obtained from: Johnson, S.M. (2008) Hold me tight: Seven conversations for a lifetime of love. New York, NY: Little, Brown and Company.). To learn more, please visit the official EFT website, http://iceeft.com.

To help children feel relief from, and liberation of, the symptoms associated with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Elon is certified in administering Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Children who have experienced physical, sexual, or psychological abuse or neglect, loss, or exposure to violence, either in the home or community, may be experiencing PTSD. However, trauma is multi-faceted, and can be defined or encountered in many ways. Children who are suffering from unresolved trauma may develop anxiety or depression, and may exhibit suicidal ideation, in addition to significant behavioral problems and substance abuse.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is proven to address and alleviate the symptoms described above, as well as the personal distress of the participating parent or caregiver, by enhancing parenting skills and increasing supportive interactions between the parent/caregiver and child. Treatment lasts from between six to twelve months. To find out more, check out http://tfcbt.org.
